🌟 Bracelet SOLD 🌟In my last post I forgot to list 🌟 Bracelet SOLD 🌟In my last post I forgot to list this fabulous vintage Diamanté Bracelet by Trifari. So I just sneaked out in the freezing cold to give it its own shoot in the frost. It’s a stunning piece from the 20s/30s when Krussman, Trifari, and Fishel* were making a name for themselves for beautiful quality costume jewellery. It will be a talking point at Christmas parties…you can choose not to let on that it’s not quite the real deal, but if you do, tell them it’s nearly 100 years old. KTF Trifari Diamanté Bracelet £140. And if the bracelet’s not your thing, keep swiping for some cuteness. Meet Scout. This bracelet is stamped ‘KTF’ which stands for Krussman, Trifari and Fishel. Leo Krussman, Gustavo Trifari and Carl Fishel ran the Trifari company together from 1925 and jewellery was stamped with their names until the mid 1930s. It’s been a while! I’m sure your feeds have been f It’s been a while! I’m sure your feeds have been full of other interesting things and cat videos (or is that just me?), but in case you’ve wondered, sorry for my absence. Life has been full and the first thing I neglect is my Instagram. Which in some ways is a good thing as I suffer less from Insta-ngst, but meanwhile noone has a clue what I’m up to. Cubitt Fine who* I hear you say... So hello my friend, hello, I’m here, I’ll fill you in... Some of you will know that one of my other hats is running the jewellery department for Minster Auctions in Herefordshire. We have a rather wonderful sale coming up in November which I have been working on for six months and it includes Cartier, Boucheron, Gubelin, Grima and loads of spectacular unsigned pieces too. I’ve started appearing on the rostrum auctioning which is a lot of fun but surprisingly challenging! A bit like learning to drive a car...lots of things to think about at once which initially seem impossible but are becoming familiar. I’ve also been doing a number of jewellery box audits, helping people know what they have - for their own interest but also for inheritance planning. I’m always amazed how people don’t know what they have tucked away, but then when things have been passed through the family, why would you? And then I’ve been tasked missions; engagement rings, earrings to wear on a wedding day, presents for 50th birthdays, pieces to invest a small inheritance in...all sorts and it’s satisfying to fulfill the brief. Not a pretty post but interesting, I hope. This is Not a pretty post but interesting, I hope. This is another of those rings that is not what it seems. It’s a huge Keeper Ring weighing in at a whopping 33gms with a hallmark to say it’s 9ct gold. But no, look a little closer and you can see there are solder marks on the side which imply the ring is what we called ‘made up’ - a combination of two or more original things. So, it looks like the hallmark has been taken from another ring to give the impression it’s all gold. And at 33gms that would make it worth more than £850 at scrap value! But it still didn’t look right to me and an acid test on the metal proved it’s all a big scam. None of it’s gold! Sadly there is plenty of dodgy behaviour in our industry but that’s why you do well to buy from an expert who has dodged the dodgy on your behalf. #jewelleryspecialist #qualifiedgemmologist #jewellerytips #jewelleryforlife #cubittfinejewellery
